Barcoding Quality Requirements:
In order to streamline and improve accuracy of barcoding, GA-ASI will be monitoring suppliers with approved barcoded pack slips and labels. Situations where non-compliant delivery data is discovered suppliers will be tracked for trends and any corrective action plans required for compliance will be developed.
Approved suppliers have been receiving purchase orders with the contractually required Quality Clause (Q-8) or barcode specification language, which mandates barcoding on all incoming shipments to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI).
GA-ASI published a manual defining specific packaging standards to be utilized for goods shipped to a GA-ASI receiving location. Barcoding of labels and associated documentation of material packaged and shipped from suppliers is necessary to achieve requisite levels of speed, accuracy, and quality in GA-ASI receiving transactions. A large number of our supplier base are already realizing the benefits of increased speed of payments through our Accounts Payable department. In addition, these receipts are being processed more efficiently and accurately, thereby, reducing the number of discrepant receivers and invoices.
As a reminder, if you have not responded or provided adequate rationale for noncompliance of this requirement, your company will be excluded from the above mentioned benefits.
